Owner Surrender

We realize surrendering your pet may be a very difficult decision. If you would like to keep your pet, but your pet is having behavioral issues, let us know. We may be able to put you in contact with a trainer who can help, or we may be able to give you tips to help correct the issues. If you still feel that you need to surrender your pet, and we have space, we will do our best to help you.

If you do surrender your pet, you will be contacted by one of our volunteers with questions about your pet. Please understand that these questions are essential to helping us finding a foster home for and placing your pet in their new forever home. Therefore, please be honest with all questions that are asked. We need to know as much about your pet as possible.

Contact surrender@almosthomerutherford.com for a surrender application. Please complete and return the application. A volunteer will contact you once your application has been reviewed. NOT ALL OWNER SURRENDERS CAN BE TAKEN INTO OUR PROGRAM.

**Please Note** If your pet is not spayed or neutered at the time he or she is surrendered to Almost Home, we may require a surrender fee in order to have your pet altered.

And Remember…Once a pet comes into Almost Home’s rescue program, we make a lifetime commitment to that pet. If for any reason, a pet has to be re-homed after being adopted from Almost Home, the adopters are contractually required to return the pet to our care. We only want what’s best for the pet.
